絵を描くのが好きで手先を使う仕事がしたかった。

I've always loved drawing, so I wanted a career where I could work with my hands.

New Futenma Barber Shopの名前の由来と、この店を始めた理由は？ / What's the story behind the name?

新しく変わろうとする普天間の街の象徴となる床屋さんでありたいと願ってこの名前にしました。

We named it with the hope of becoming a symbol of Futenma's transformation — a barbershop that represents the new energy of this town.

「City Light For The New People」にはどんな意味が込められている？ / What does "City Light For The New People" mean to you?

この街を訪れる全ての新しい人達へ街の明かりを照らす。

It means lighting the way for everyone new who comes to this town.

普天間という場所で店をやる面白さは？ / What's unique about running a shop in Futenma?

世代を問わず普天間を愛する人が多い気がします。そこにはミリタリーの方や移り住んで来た方も含まれていて地域と混ざり合いながら独自の普天間という空気があるのが面白いです。

People of all generations seem to love Futenma. That includes military folks and newcomers who've moved here. The way everyone blends together creates this unique Futenma atmosphere — that's what makes it interesting.

それぞれに持っているものを尊重してお店に迎える気持ちです。

Respecting what each person brings with them, and welcoming them into the shop with that mindset.

世界どこの国へ行っても仕事できると思っています。

I believe my skills can work anywhere in the world.

バーバーとして一番影響を受けた人やカルチャーは？ / Who or what culture has influenced you the most?

一度一緒に働いたフランス人のSachaっていう同い年のバーバーです。他で見た事のない程仕事全てが綺麗でした。

A French barber named Sacha, the same age as me, who I once worked with. Everything about his work was the cleanest I've ever seen.

みんなお客さんの事が好きだと思います。

I think they all genuinely love their clients.

お客さんにとってこの店がどういう場所であってほしい？ / What do you want this shop to be for your customers?

隣の席に誰が座ろうと落ち着く場所だと感じて欲しいです。

I want people to feel at ease here — no matter who's sitting in the chair next to them.

これからNew Futenma Barber Shopをどうしていきたい？ / What's your vision for the future?

実は、お客さんからスタッフになった子が多い店です。そうやって何世代もみんなで大切にして地域へ良い影響を返していけたらいいなと思います。

Actually, a lot of our staff started out as customers. I hope we can keep that going — generation after generation, taking care of this place together and giving back to the community.
